A Favorite Stop Along the Way

Gorgeous morning transitioned into the most delightful traveling day as my husband and I headed towards VT, a great get-a-way with just over an hours drive.   The greenery of VT, heading into Quechee and Woodstock, makes a day away a relaxing trip for the both of us.

Prior to leaving, we called ahead to my favorite shops in Woodstock, that is the actual draw for me when we travel in this particular direction.  As we make our way into Woodstock, we stop at one of the parking areas and decide to walk our way into town to Primrose Garden.  This particular shop, for both my husband and I is a lovely floral and home décor type place with a comfortably natural setting.  The gentle aroma of her berry-scented potpourri permeates throughout the store in a way that welcomes you in.

Last year as we entered Primrose Garden, we were captured by the obvious gift and decorative theme of the store, with unique decorative items for both in the home as well as outdoors.  With our first trip, we were struck by this vintage designed gazing ball that we now hang in our gazebo for our own enjoyment throughout the summer.  In addition, we wanted to experience the berry-scented potpourri within our own home.

Now when we just want to get-away, we sometimes head towards Woodstock in hopes to experience the ambiance of this store.  We certainly walk around and check out a few other places that we enjoy visiting including the lovely park and covered bridge that they have in town.  It is a town in which you can spend time with no cash outflow, or shop to your hearts delight.  The one thing that I appreciate about the town Woodstock is how proud the town and shop owners are.  It is kept clean so you feel like you are a welcomed visitor, and the shops having an inviting atmosphere.  The shops that carry hand crafted items display them in such a way that compliments the artist, allowing the casual observer to see the love that is pour into each custom made item.

Today was an intentioned trip to visit Primrose Garden, so I called ahead to be sure that Anne would be around, as she runs this shop on her own.  Plus, you never know when she might be out tending to her own person needs or possibly at an artisans convention, allowing her to bring back more unique items you will not so easily find in local venues.

In calling ahead, it gave her a heads up that I was on my way, as we were traveling over an hour to visit.  My main goal was to purchase more of her Berry potpourri oil to use in my rose petals that I have been saving throughout the summer from my rose bushes.  Of course, while we were there, we took our time to see what could potentially capture our eye for future ideas.

With all the activity the hummingbirds have been having in our backyard, we found a rather unique looking teal blue glass feeder that was etched with hummingbirds and flowers.  There were many other items that would have also fit in with our style of home décor, but temptation was not to win on this particular venture out.  As we talked about the different items, we also discussed how nice it was to have a place that was close enough to make into a day trip while enjoying the other views of VT.

On our way home, we stopped at Quechee Gorge and walked along the path leading up to the dam that led into the gorge.  Normally we walk the southern portion of the gorge, but today we were both looking for less of an incline, which allowed us to capture some beautiful pictures for our memory albums.

We are closing in on the end of my husbands’ two weeks vacation which we have both enjoyed.  No specific plans for any of the days he has been home, but to enjoy each day as they came.  This year was a year of limited resources, but with much of the major work around the house already being done, allowing us to relax throughout each day.  This has been one of the few vacations that my husband will return to work relaxed, versus tired from all the work that we needed to accomplish during his time off.

These glass blown gazing balls (seen below), different from the one we have hanging in our gazebo, are extremely eye appealing.  I hope that on one of my return visits that I will be able to obtain one to add to our flower gardens.  Such a lovely addition to any garden.

Blessed with great weather and enjoyable moments that we will treasure for many days forward.

Take time to enjoy life, taking a break from the busyness of what surrounds you, let go of the stress, and allow peace to fill your soul
