I think back to when I was giving birth to our daughters. I had heard horror stories of women in labor for hours and was not quite sure what that would be like. Of course when you are pregnant, you don’t really pay much attention to the stories, because everyone has a story and everyone’s is different. I was truly blessed with not only did our daughters arrive 4, 2 and 3 weeks early, but also in less time than most.
After waiting all day for my friend in NY to deliver her little “Jelly Bean”, with updates from her mom and dad on Facebook, I have become more and more anxious to read the news that “Jelly Bean” has arrived with his/her official name.
Since around 8 am today, almost 14 hours ago, I read the great news that the time had arrived. Jennifer was on her way to the hospital with her husband and ready to bring forth their little miracle. Of course, based on my own experience, I really did not expect this to go on as long as it has. But, sometimes the little ones are just not ready to enter the world into the arms of those awaiting their arrival.
Tonight I am reminded of the pain we experience in childbirth, yet how the joy we experience once we hold this precious gift of life, makes the pain and discomfort in giving birth a slight inconvenience in the process of life. Despite the labor and the months of carrying life within us, the moment we embrace this precious and tender life, our hearts leap open with an indescribable joy that fills your heart with the most amazing sense of warmth and love.
As that little heart beat that you shared within you for nine months makes its way into the world, your own heart takes on a new rhythm as you experience the miracle of life being placed in your arms. There is nothing more rewarding than to embrace the warmth of your child for the first time, which was created in love, through the blessing of God.
As the day has moved forward and Jennifer’s little “Jelly Bean” takes a nap from time to time, preparing for his/her grand entrance, I pray for Jennifer’s endurance. I know that her strength will be renewed the moment this little one cries its first cry and is held for the first time. May God allow for this miracle to safely arrive soon bringing many miracles of joy and hope for both Jennifer and Nicholas.
A union of love, created by God, brings forth the most precious of miracles; the birth of a child. Blessings and prayers Jennifer and Nicholas ♥
Update: Around mid-night, Jennifer & Nicholas welcomed into the world: Nicholas Joseph, a healthy 6 pounds 3 ounce, healthy baby boy. Amen!!
